    March 3rd in Women’s History

    1879: Belva Ann Lockwood sworn in  as the first woman member of the U.S. Supreme Court bar.

    1887: Anne Sullivan arrived at the home of six year-old Helen Keller to begin to teach her to communicate.

    1911: Jean Harlow, known as the “Blonde Bombshell,” one of the most popular actresses of the 1930′s, author, born.

    1913: 5000 US suffragists marched to interrupt Wilson’s  inauguration. Onlookers attacked while police stood by.

    1962: Jackie Joyner-Kersee, 1 of world’s great athletes, won  3 gold, 1 silver, & 2 bronze medals in 4 Olympic games, born.
